Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the original Intel iMac arrangement cover one 4K30 HDMI screen, two USB-A devices and one USB-C device at 5 Gbps?
Yes, with a suitable native-video host/cable and the original compatible mounting arrangement.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I require laptop charging through this hub?
No. Its complete original connector map provides no PD charging input.
Explore this need in the finder →Is simultaneous use of both card slots established by the original manual?
No. Both physical slots are documented, but simultaneous transfer is not established.

The CASA Hub i8 addresses a familiar iMac inconvenience: frequently used connectors live behind the screen. It brings USB data, memory cards and headphone access to a hub attached below a compatible display, while adding one HDMI output. The reason to choose this model is its particular mounting arrangement. Before comparing port counts, confirm that the computer can accept the clamp described in the original instructions. An iMac name alone does not establish that fit.
The clamp uses bottom ventilation slots
ADAM's 2019 manual describes loosening the thumb screw, inserting the clamp into the bottom vent slots and tightening it to secure the hub. Its named scope includes iMac from 2017 and iMac Pro. That is the original physical arrangement, rather than evidence that the mounting hardware fits every later thin iMac. In particular, do not infer a 24-inch Apple-silicon iMac fit from the words “2017 and newer” in a pre-Apple-silicon document. Compare the actual chassis and ventilation opening before installation.
The hub connects electrically with a USB-C cable through a separate female host socket. That removable connection is useful for positioning and replacing a damaged cable, but cable selection still matters: the manual calls for USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 or above. HDMI also requires the host and cable to carry native display video. A charging-only USB-C cable or a data-only host connection cannot be assumed to provide the entire arrangement.
Three downstream USB data connections
The i8 has two USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 data sockets and one downstream USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 data socket. Each type is advertised up to 5Gbps, with a stated peripheral output up to 5V at 0.9A, or 4.5W. The other USB-C socket goes to the computer and must not be counted as a fourth peripheral connection. This allocation can serve, for example, an existing USB-A drive, a receiver and a USB-C peripheral without changing the plug types on those accessories.
The published line rates describe interface capability. They do not give every drive a dedicated upstream connection or establish a measured simultaneous transfer total. The per-port power figures likewise do not establish a combined budget for several demanding drives. If several bus-powered peripherals are essential, obtain a clear combined-power specification or select a hub whose separate supply and total budget are documented. The i8's reviewed connection map contains no PD charging input for a laptop.
Cards and audio are convenient, with defined limits
The original specification lists separate SD and microSD slots, supporting SD, SDHC, SDXC and the corresponding microSD families with UHS-I cards. A camera workflow can therefore use the appropriate slot without a separate card-reader body. Two physical slots, however, are not by themselves proof that both can transfer at once. The original manual reviewed here does not establish that simultaneous behavior, so this model does not qualify when using both cards together is a strict requirement.
The 3.5mm connection provides stereo headphone output up to 48kHz at 16-bit depth. That helps place a frequently unplugged listening connection within reach. It is not a documented headset microphone input in this assessment. Keeping headphone output, microphone capture and card-reading requirements separate prevents a useful convenience feature from becoming an unsupported all-purpose audio claim.
One additional HDMI display
ADAM specifies one HDMI output up to 3840 by 2160 at 30Hz and documents mirror and extended modes. It provides one external-display route; two independent external screens through the hub are not established. A 4K60 desk is also outside its documented maximum. For a mostly static reference window, the 4K30 allocation may be sufficient. A reader who specifically wants smoother 4K motion or a higher-refresh workspace should choose by that requirement before choosing by the mounting style.
The original compatibility list includes macOS, Windows 8/10 and Chrome OS, with named Intel-era MacBook models and Chromebook Pixel as well as iMac. Those electrical-use references do not mean the iMac clamp attaches to those laptops. They also do not establish later Mac chips or an exact lid configuration. The i8 is best viewed as an earlier, deliberately fitted desktop accessory. Choose it when its vent-mounted installation and modest 5Gbps, single-4K30 arrangement match an existing machine; seek a different documented mount or power design when they do not.
